21 Days of Prayer – January 2025

For the month of January, we’re committed to growing deeper in our relationship with God through prayer. As we learn from Jesus’ example in “Teach Us to Pray,” we’ll spend 21 days focusing on Scripture and guided prayer prompts. By dedicating these days to intentional prayer, we are asking God to shape our hearts, align our desires with His will, and empower us to live as His faithful followers.

Day 1

Reading: Luke 11:1-4 (Introduction to the Lord’s Prayer)
Focus Question: Why did the disciples ask Jesus to teach them how to pray?
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, give me a heart that is eager to learn how to pray from You.”

Day 2

Reading: Matthew 6:5-8 (Context before the Lord’s Prayer)
Focus Question: What attitudes and motives does Jesus highlight before teaching the Lord’s Prayer?
Prayer Prompt: “Father, help me approach You with honesty and humility, free from pretense.”

Day 3

Reading: Matthew 6:9a
Focus Question: What does it mean to address God as “Father,” and how does that shape our relationship with Him?
Prayer Prompt: “Father, help me rest in Your loving care and approach You as Your beloved child.”

Day 4

Reading: Matthew 6:9b
Focus Question: In what ways can we honor and revere God’s name in our daily lives?
Prayer Prompt: “Holy God, may Your name be honored in my words, actions, and thoughts today.”

Day 5 

Reading: Matthew 6:10a
Focus Question: Where do I long to see God’s rule and reign more fully expressed in my life and community?
Prayer Prompt: “King Jesus, bring Your kingdom to bear in my heart, my family, and my world.”

Day 6 

Reading: Matthew 6:10b
Focus Question: How can I align my desires and plans with God’s perfect will?
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, help me surrender my will to Yours so that heaven’s goodness shines through me.”

Day 7

Reading: Matthew 6:11
Focus Question: Do I trust God as my provider, and am I content with His daily provision?
Prayer Prompt: “Provider God, meet my needs today and teach me to rely on Your faithful care.”

Day 8 

Reading: Matthew 6:12
Focus Question: Is there anyone I need to forgive, just as God has forgiven me?
Prayer Prompt: “Merciful Father, cleanse my heart of grudges and help me extend forgiveness freely.”

Day 9 

Reading: Matthew 6:13
Focus Question: Where am I vulnerable to temptation, and how can I rely on God’s help for deliverance?
Prayer Prompt: “Mighty God, protect me from temptation and rescue me from the snares of evil.”

Day 10

Reading: Psalm 19:1-6 (God’s revelation in creation)
Focus Question: How does the beauty and order of creation inspire my prayers and worship?
Prayer Prompt: “Creator, open my eyes to see Your glory in creation so I may praise You.”

Day 11

Reading: Psalm 19:7-14 (God’s revelation in His Word)
Focus Question: In what ways can Scripture shape and direct my prayers?
Prayer Prompt: “Lord, let Your Word revive my soul and guide my prayers, thoughts, and actions.”

Day 12

Reading: 1 Samuel 2:1-10
Focus Question: How does Hannah’s gratitude and exaltation of God shift my perspective on answered prayer?
Prayer Prompt: “God of strength, fill my heart with praise and thanksgiving even as I wait on You.”

Day 13 

Reading: Psalm 51:1-12 (you may read the entire Psalm 51 if time allows)
Focus Question: How honest am I about my need for forgiveness and renewal?
Prayer Prompt: “Merciful Lord, wash me clean, renew my spirit, and restore my joy in Your salvation.”

Day 14 

Reading: 1 Kings 8:22-30
Focus Question: How does recognizing God’s transcendence and holiness influence my approach to prayer?
Prayer Prompt: “Holy One, make my life a place where Your presence dwells and prayers arise sincerely.”

Day 15 

Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:5-12
Focus Question: When I face overwhelming challenges, do I turn first to God’s power and guidance?
Prayer Prompt: “Mighty Deliverer, when I face troubles, I look to You for help, wisdom, and victory.”

Day 16

Reading: Ezra 9:5-9
Focus Question: How does confessing community sins help restore our relationship with God?
Prayer Prompt: “God of compassion, forgive our corporate failings and lead us back to faithfulness.”

Day 17 

Reading: Nehemiah 1:5-11
Focus Question: Do I bring my burdens and plans before God, trusting Him for favor and help?
Prayer Prompt: “Gracious Lord, hear my cries, guide my steps, and grant favor as I seek Your purposes.”

Day 18 

Reading: Daniel 9:3-10 (consider reading further if time allows)
Focus Question: How can I pray on behalf of others, confessing sin and pleading for mercy?
Prayer Prompt: “Righteous God, I intercede for others—have mercy, heal our land, and turn us back to You.”

Day 19 

Reading: John 17:1-11 (you may read the entire chapter if possible)
Focus Question: What does Jesus’ prayer teach me about unity, mission, and eternal life in God?
Prayer Prompt: “Savior, unite us in Your truth, protect us, and help us reflect Your glory to the world.”

Day 20

Reading: Ephesians 3:14-21
Focus Question: How can I pray for spiritual growth, strength, and a deeper grasp of God’s love for my church community?
Prayer Prompt: “Father, root us deeply in Your love and empower us to know the fullness of Christ.”

Day 21

Reading: Acts 4:23-31
Focus Question: How does asking for boldness to speak God’s Word shape my prayer life today?
Prayer Prompt: “Holy Spirit, grant me courage to speak truth and live boldly for Your kingdom.”
